On Saturday 4th September, colleagues from Ubuntu Wealth Management and members of Warrington BNI (Business Networking International) took on the challenge of a 10-mile assault course in aid of our hospitals.
The team, aptly named the Ubuntu Diamonds, headed to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire to complete the famously muddy, 25-obstacle course.
Dr. Garnet Ronander, Founder of Ubuntu Wealth Management and ‘team captain’, said: “I love a challenge and believe that in order to grow, we need to continually push ourselves to do things that are uncomfortable, but good for us.”
When asked about his motivation behind organising the fundraiser, he said: “Over the last year I have lost both my mother-in-law and father-in-law. They both passed too young and had brief stays in hospital. It gave me an appreciation of all the fantastic humans that dedicate their lives to helping people when they are at their lowest points and provide comfort to them.”
One of the other team members was Paul Moore of PME Projects, who said: “I originally signed up as a personal challenge following a difficult 2020/21, but more recently, in memory of my mum who sadly passed away. Tough Mudder isn’t a solo event and with the help of my Ubuntu Diamonds teammates, I was sure we would power through.”
In total, they managed to raise a staggering £1,832 for Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals’ Charity.
The hospital’s charity relies on the kindness and generosity of local businesses to help provide additional care, comforts and experiences for the direct benefit of our hospital’s patients and their families, beyond those which the NHS is able to provide.
