Why our Cardiac Rehabilitation team are taking on the Warrington Running Festival
Friday 7 August 2026
The countdown is on to the Warrington Running Festival, and our Cardiac Rehabilitation team are getting ready to take on the challenge together on Sunday 20 September.
Colleagues from the team will be taking part in the 5K, 10K and half marathon, with some regular runners and others taking on a running challenge for the first time.
The team wanted to do something together outside of work while raising money to support the Cardiac Rehabilitation service at Warrington Hospital.
Training has not always been easy, particularly finding the time and motivation when work and life get busy.
But supporting each other and seeing progress, even in small steps, has helped keep everyone going.
For a team who spend much of their working day encouraging patients to become more active and make positive changes to their health, taking on the challenge themselves felt like a natural fit.
Adrian Lauder, cardiac rehabilitation nurse, said: “We talk to our patients every day about the benefits of being active and making positive changes, so taking part in the Warrington Running Festival is a great opportunity for us to put some of that advice into practice ourselves.
“We are all starting from different places and we have people taking part in different distances, but we are encouraging each other throughout the training. It has been great to see everyone getting involved and making progress.
“The message we give our patients is that any movement, no matter how small, is better than nothing. That is just as important for us to remember too.
“We are really looking forward to the event and would love to see colleagues there cheering us on. Every donation will also make a difference to our Cardiac Rehabilitation service.”
The team are now looking ahead to race day and would love the support of colleagues, patients and the wider community.
Whether you can make a donation or join them on the start line, your support will help them raise money for Cardiac Rehabilitation.
