Local school performs for patients

Patients and staff at Warrington Hospital’s Forget Me Not Unit and Stroke Unit were treated to a special visit this week from pupils at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, based on Selby Street in Warrington.

Children from Year 2 and the school’s Year 5 and 6 musical theatre group brought plenty of joy to the wards – performing a medley of cheerful songs and hand-delivering thoughtful cards filled with kind messages, get well wishes and words of encouragement.

The visit lifted spirits across both units, which care for patients living with dementia and those recovering from stroke.

Emily Thompson, Patient Activities Co-ordinator at Warrington Hospital, said: “Visits like this make such a huge difference to our patients. The children bring so much warmth and positivity – you can see the joy it brings the moment they start to sing. It’s also a real boost for our staff to see their patients so engaged and happy. We’re so grateful to Sacred Heart for their kindness and continued support.”

Sacred Heart are long-standing supporters of their local hospital and are already planning to return in December to spread some festive cheer.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals Charity are always looking to work with local schools, groups and organisations who want to make a difference for patients and staff.
