Breast Screening Team step out for patients at Widnes parkrun

Thirteen breast screening colleagues have raised an incredible £1,465 for WHH Charity after taking on a 5k parkrun together.

Staff from the Warrington, Halton, St Helens and Knowsley Breast Screening Service completed the community 5k challenge at Victoria Park in Widnes, raising funds to support breast cancer care across local services.

The money raised will help WHH Charity fund improvements that go beyond the essentials, creating more comfortable and welcoming environments for patients and their families during treatment and care.

The event was about more than crossing the finish line. By taking part together, the team raised awareness of the charity while turning a Saturday morning parkrun into practical support for the people they care for every day.

Rachael Martin, mammography assistant practitioner, said: "We wanted to do something that everyone in the team could feel part of. The 5k parkrun gave us the chance to come together outside of work, support each other and raise money for a cause that is very close to what we do every day.

"We're so grateful to everyone who supported us and helped us raise £1,465. We see how much the little things matter to patients and families. Knowing this money will help improve treatment spaces and provide extra comfort for local people makes every step worthwhile."
