£200,000 Willow Tree Hub Appeal passes halfway milestone

Monday 16 March 2026

Our Willow Tree Hub Appeal has reached an important milestone, passing the halfway mark towards its £200,000 target thanks to the generosity and dedication of our supporters and the local community.

The appeal aims to fund the Willow Tree Hub, a calm, purpose-built space in the grounds of Warrington Hospital, just outside the Maternity Department. The hub will provide comfort, privacy and specialist support for families experiencing the devastating loss of a baby, as well as those navigating pregnancy after loss, away from the busy clinical environment.

We’ve been truly inspired by your support so far. From football matches and corporate golf days to Everest climbing and running events, every penny you’ve donated has made a huge difference. Our maternity department’s Butterfly Team led the way by walking a collective 250,000 steps in one week – representing the 250,000 pregnancies lost each year in the UK.

And the appeal also received a significant boost with a generous £65,227 donation from Buckley Street Independent Methodist Church, which donated the proceeds of the sale of the church following more than a century of service.

Helen Higginson, head of fundraising for WHH Charity, said: “Reaching this milestone is a huge moment for the Willow Tree Hub Appeal and it simply would not be possible without the incredible support we have received so far. Every contribution has brought us closer to creating a space that will make a real difference to families during the most difficult times of their lives.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has supported the appeal and we would encourage people to continue backing this project so that together we can reach our £200,000 target and make the Willow Tree Hub a reality.”

The Willow Tree Hub will include private rooms for counselling and emotional support, alongside a peaceful outdoor garden space designed for reflection and remembrance. The hub will also house a Rainbow Clinic, offering specialist care and reassurance for families experiencing pregnancy after loss.

Sarah Nuttie, consultant midwife at Warrington Hospital, said: “The Willow Tree Hub will have a profound impact on the care we are able to provide. Having a dedicated, compassionate space away from the clinical setting will allow families the privacy, dignity and support they need at an incredibly vulnerable time. This hub will make a lasting difference to how families experience care following baby loss or during a pregnancy after loss.”

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the appeal so far and are urging anyone interested in fundraising or supporting the appeal in 2026 to get in touch.
