A 16-hour fundraising marathon has raised more than £13,000 in support of Warrington Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Organised by Culcheth Village Club, the event took place on Saturday 22 March, running from 8am until midnight.
Volunteers served 121 breakfasts, 112 lunches, and hosted a variety evening with 189 ticketed guests.
The fundraiser was led by Warren Bibby, who wanted to show his gratitude to Warrington ICU and Macmillan after receiving 16 days of life-saving care at Warrington Hospital following an erupted tumour. To honour the 16 days that saved his life, Warren and the Culcheth Village Club team committed to fundraising in a 16- hour challenge.
The funds raised will be split equally between the two causes, supporting both critical care and cancer support services. Warren’s son Adam Bibby also contributed to the fundraising effort by completing a marathon in Australia, running 1km a day for 22 days, raising more than £4,000.
Tasha Bibby, Warren’s daughter, said: “The night was absolutely amazing, and everything came together perfectly after weeks of planning. Seeing my dad enjoying the day, after those difficult moments in hospital when we didn’t know if he would make it, was truly incredible. We are so grateful to the amazing team at Warrington Hospital for the outstanding care they provided – not just for my dad, but for our whole family. We hope the funds raised for WHH Charity help support their incredible work.”
The Bibby family aims to reach a total of £16,000 through ongoing donations via Culcheth Village Club’s GoFundMe page.
