Sheila Murphy was joined by 14 other members of WHH, their partners and members of the Chapel House Cycle Club, Penketh.
Sunday 13th August 2017 saw our fabulous cyclist take to cycling across Sankey Valley Park into Haydock and onto the East Lancs road eventually reaching the Sandpiper pub, it was here that they rested and were served complimentary refreshments, as well as the drinks served to them Sheila had also been able to secure sponsorship for the funding provided from ‘100% Gas’, a local business, to purchase sandwiches from a local sandwich supplier ‘Food 4 Thought’ of which they were so very generous and also sponsored Sheila personally!
Sheila told Helen Higginson, WHH Charity Manager, how each and every one of the team has expressed how much they enjoyed the day, leaving Warrington Hospital cycling through some beautiful scenery with the public waving at them in support, was quiet overwhelming. The team dynamics were also very different with a huge scale/variety of experience; however the support, motivation and team work felt throughout the whole day was simply great!
The team set two targets for this event…. One to be able to achieve it in 4 hours of which they did 4.03! and the other is to raise £1000 for the Delivering the Future appeal for our Warrington Maternity and Neonatal units – this is within touching distance however with further support they could smash it! Helen, WHH Charity Manager expressed her deep gratitude to this team of cyclists, who not only created a fundraising opportunity to support WHH but also to be able to involve what you love – is simply perfect! #togetherweareamazing
