What exactly is Dragon Boat Racing?
Well it sounds exciting, doesn’t it? That’s because it is! Dragon boating is a fun, team-building activity whereby teams of people board long, canoe-shaped boats and compete in races against each other. Now you may be wondering where dragons come into it; don’t worry, there’s no fire involved – it’s just because the boats are carved and painted to look like them!
It’s our Party and we’ll ROW if we want to!
WHH Charity has organised a spectacular dragon boat racing fundraiser for this summer. We have everything in place – all we need now is some fierce competitors. This particular event is brilliant for businesses looking to take part in a team-building activity, but the invite is open to anyone, from members of the public to members of our own hospital staff. All that really matters is that you get involved and have fun!
And the best part? It’s all for a worthwhile cause. All of the proceeds from this event will go directly to our Making Waves appeal.
The event also happens to be serving as our NHS’ 70th birthday party, so come and celebrate with us! There will be a barbeque, band, bouncy castle, tombola, games and all sorts of other fun-filled activities.
Here’s what you need to know:
- When? 1st July 2018
- Where? Manley Mere, Frodsham
- Team size? 17
But what if I can’t gather that many people?
No problem – just gather as many as you can and we can put smaller groups together to form one team!
And what if I’ve never rowed before?
Don’t worry – everyone will be given full training on the day.
And even if you don’t fancy taking part in the race, there is plenty to see and do at Manley Mere, such as an adventure trail and restaurant.
